Today is for adventures.

Today is for adventures.

Okay, #motivationmonday comin’ at ya! This past weekend I couldn’t help but feel an indescribable gratefulness for being alive. I watched a short video Saturday morning as I was lazily laying in bed a little longer than I normally do.. the message was basically this.. “Today, don’t sit around in bed or on your couch. Don’t waste time staring out the window at the family of crows outside.. Life is for adventures. It’s for seeing NEW things and exploring. GET OUT THERE and explore.” I became so present to life being an adventure.. that within a few minutes I had jumped out of bed, grabbed Taya and hopped in the car. I didn’t even know exactly where I was going to go, but I had a few ideas. We ended up about an hour out of town at a park with trails along a river.. somewhere I haven’t been before. It was raining, and it was so refreshing! I never would have that memory if it wasn’t for watching that video that morning. And I felt so alive!!

So I want to give that to you.. When you find yourself feeling “lazy” or “tired” maybe taking a nap or having a “lazy day” isn’t always the answer. Create for yourself the feeling of adventure and spontaneity and try to see as many new things as possible that day instead! Then see how long you feel tired for.. There are real studies that have actually proven the health benefits (emotional and physical) for us and our pets with just simply being exposed to natural light. Don’t close yourself off and stay inside. Don’t live life small. Don’t let you (or your dogs) memories be ones that are only of that same trail or street you walk or drive on every day. And that show on netflix.. it can wait, too.

Just to be clear I am not bashing netflix and chill.. This is just simply a new approach I am taking on in my life and wanted to share it with you in hopes it could motivate you to maybe do the same… Stare at the crows if you like. Lay in bed if you must. Just know you could be out there in the fresh air.. making memories.. literally improving your quality of life, and affirming it. That’s what I will be doing. 😉

Some pictures of Taya on our adventure this weekend..! 🙂

Colloidal Silver is “Gold”!

Colloidal Silver is “Gold”!

Okie dokie, I’m about to tell you about the all time “must have” in your first aid kit for you and your dog guys. I found out about this stuff over a year ago, and have used it for myself, and Taya for a lot of things! It is all natural, awesome, and affordable when you think of all of the uses for it. I have seen it at Lifestyle Market on Douglas St. in Victoria, but you can find it at your local health food store where ever you live no problem.

What is Colloidal Silver?

Colloidal Silver is a natural and powerful substance with a broad spectrum osilverf uses. It works as an excellent antibiotic agent, antiseptic, anti-fungal and disinfectant. From the late 1800s – 1938 Colloidal
Silver was prescribed often to treat a lot of different diseases and infections. Then when man-made antibiotics were created
in the late 1930’s, Colloidal Silver lost its popularity. Read here at one of my recently found favorite wellness blogs for more information on the history of colloidal silver.

How does it work?

What makes Colloidal Silver so awesome is that it works so quickly.. The silver will actually suffocate and kill pathogens within 6 minutes of use, disallowing it to become immune. A big problem these days is antibiotic immunity (which I rant about all the time to anyone who with listen and/or is prescribed antibiotics for something silly in my opinion) and this happens when diseased organisms become resistant to conventional antibiotics – creating “super bugs”. Because colloidal silver works at a faster pace pathogens don’t get opportunity to mutate, leaving no risk of immunity to it. And it’s a natural mineral.. how cool is that?!

What can you use it for?

There is seriously a generously big list of uses for this awesome product for humans and for pets, but today I am just going to stick to dog ear cleaning/infections, scrapes and cuts, and disinfecting a bug bites, scrapes, or after a removal of a tick.

For Cleaning dogs infected ears –

  1. For infection, apply 2-5 drops in the entrance of the ear canal, 2 or 3 times a day. up to 10 days. Do not try and put the dropper inside the canal.
  2. For regular cleaning/ear maintenance apply 2-3 drops as needed
  3. Gently rub/massage the ear in a circular motion and then take your hand away and let your dog shake out the excess.
  4. If you need to, you can take a cotton ball and gently clean out the wax where you can see it. You don’t need to stuff the cotton ball down the canal, it’s not necessary.
  5. Clean the outside ear flap with the colloidal silver water and a cotton ball once or twice a day.
  6. Do not use this treatment if your dogs ear drums are punctured/perforated

Disinfecting a bug bite, scrape, or after a tick has been removed –

  1. Use a cotton ball to apply colloidal silver to affected area, and rub/dab gently!
  2. Use as needed

As always guys, this blog is not to replace the need for your veterinarian. The information provided is not intended or recommended as a substitute for professional medical advice. It is just me sharing what I chose to do with my dogs and myself. Always do your own research and do what you are comfortable with for your doggy 🙂

I found a great resource for information and studies done by Dr. Robert O. Becker, he has done extensive research and proved the healing properties of silver ions contained in silver, if you wish to check it out from a scientific standpoint.

Have a great day and keep smiling!! 🙂 🙂

Thank you, THANK you, THANK YOU!

Thank you, THANK you, THANK YOU!

Thankful-Grateful-Blessed_2013#grateful #thankful #blessed.. it seems people on social media have totally created a cliche of these words now, and I’m a little upset about it!

I’m upset about it because these words are something that have really gotten me from “blah..” some days to “heck yes I love this life!” and they shouldn’t be undermined. Every day I try and write down or think about what I am grateful for, what I am totally blessed to have, and what I have won at that day. Things like my dog, dogs in general, videos of dogs, the sunshine, the gift of everyone being different from one another, dogs, a new distance I have run, living where I get to live.. all of that just scratches the surface. And today I have a big new one! A big opportunity come through with my business that I just started up 4 weeks ago, Pawsitive Scents. I had interest from a local all natural pet food store here in Victoria (Raw Feeding Victoria), and they want to sell my product. MY product.. The product that was completely made up in my head just 6 months ago.. I really had no idea how big of an impact I could make with my vision, and I am realizing now how I can really be a contribution to this community so filled with dog owners! It’s a big deal!

I guess what I am trying to say is you should never downgrade your success.. big or small. A win is a win – as one of my favorite coaches use to tell me – and you need to celebrate! Being #thankful, and #grateful is not a cliche, it is crucial in being a happy and positive person!! This life definitely has ups and downs, but it is how you push through those downs, and celebrate your ups that really builds you as a person in my opinion.

Do me a favor and count your blessings today, you may be surprised what you come up with!!

Allie

Let’s get started!

Let’s get started!

Hi! Thanks for stopping by and checking out the FIRST ever Pawsitive Living blog post! This blog is going to be an outlet for me to share in my love and knowledge for dogs, natural ways of living, and general self-empowerment, and i’m SO EXCITED about it – just in case you were wondering. 🙂

When it comes to the cute canines I want to share natural home remedies, advice in basic training, and of course information on my all natural dog product line, PawsitiveScents. —>

All natural tick and flea/insect repellents

Which leads me to the “natural” ways of living part.. I am very passionate about healing myself naturally, whether it be boosting my immune system with certain super foods, clearing a cold with oil of oregano or – after accidentally burning myself when clumsily touching a hot pan – applying real Aloe Vera gel from my aloe plant to ease the pain and promote healing.     —>  FullSizeRender

Lastly, self-empowerment. What exactly is self-empowerment you may ask? To me self empowerment is having the ability to move through life powerfully, no matter what comes up. Being self-empowered is being able to choose and create your own life.. Not being a “victim” and taking 100% responsibility. Choosing who you are and what you want to be EVERY day. Knowing your worth, and not allowing anyone to take it away from you or alter it. All these things are what I am working on all the time, and I want to share how I do that and how easy (and sometimes challenging) it can be.

My hope is that you can find something to take away from this blog to either add to your life, or your dogs of course! With that being said, I never pretend to be a doctor or veterinarian and you should always go and see those guys with letters are the end of their name for professional diagnosis when something goes awry, then decide with what you are comfortable with for treatment!

So that scratches the surface of what I am going to be sharing, I hope you keep tuning in for the super fun stuff I have in store for you. Have a happy Monday, and keep being awesome. (And if you aren’t being awesome, start now!) 😉

With love,

Allie
